Genesis of Nature’s Way
Living in upState New York from the ‘70’s, in 1986 Marion Dusoir Ennes, for five years, edited the then 30-year-old Alan Devoe Bird Club’s monthly newsletter, The Warbler. This attracted the attention of The Independent, a twice-weekly newspaper for the Columbia County, NY-Berkshire, MA, area.
At the invitation of publisher and editor, Marion created and began writing, in 1988, a natural sciences column under the title Nature’s Way. Over the next decade she wrote some 350 columns, half of which are in this book.
In 1991 the Columbia County Environmental Management Council named Marion for their “Good Earthkeeping Award” –– hence the subtitle of the book.
Since childhood, Marion was a ‘nature’s child’, student of naturalists, friend to several in person [Dr. Reilly, above, right] and through their writings [Alan Devoe, Anna Comstock] and so many more.
