THUNDER from the PAST

The author’s homestead was in an area replete with colonial and post-Revolution history. It was marked by little-know episodes such as the uprisings in the 1830’s-40’s of indentured renters on the properties of the British and Dutch landowners.   These ‘anti-rent wars’ actually began as student demonstrations, led by a young activist physician aka  “Big Thunder” –– which is what they named the motor homes Marion and Howard traveled in on their nature tours.  This bit of history is told in the After Words section of Nature’s Way.
